If there's one thing we've been learning about our favorite automaker as of late, it's that they're awfully big advocates of giving credit where credit is due. Not too long ago, they gifted the one and only Usain Bolt two 2014 Nissan GT-R models after his gold-medal performances at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Now, they're giving back to those who are working to shape the world for the better.

In case you didn't know, the brass at Nissan has given over $7 million to hundreds of non-profit organizations in the US since 1992. After going through roughly 150 applications and proposals this year, they've continued to their support NPOs by awarding 29 of them with $689,000 worth of grants. The non-profits chosen hail from far and wide across the country and each of them is working to support educational programs and improve our understanding of America's cultural heritage.

In case you're wondering why Nissan holds these values in such high regard, we'll let them do the explaining:

"Our grantees are looking for solutions to important societal issues or offering opportunities to learn from the experiences of people whose lives may be different from our own," says Scott Becker, president of the Nissan Foundation. "By encouraging us to respect the differences that exist among various peoples, our grantees are demonstrating the value of diversity with courage, creativity and commitment."1

And unless we're mistaken, those are three winning qualities that we've always associated with our automaker. Coincidence? We think not. So if you'd like to learn more about the NPOs in question, feel free to visit us at our dealership here in Eugene, OR. We'd be happy to fill you in.
