The last time that we here at Lithia Nissan of Eugene had some news to send your way regarding the 2013 Nissan LEAF, our favorite automaker was giving you a $1,000 incentive to give it a whirl. Take it from us, it worked like gangbusters and brought in more new customers for our new and used cars than we knew what to do with. And ever since then, we've been working to keep up.

In case you haven't heard, the Nissan LEAF is more popular than ever, especially given the recent arrival of its model-year edition at dealerships across the nation. It's so popular, in fact, that Nissan has been selling an average of 2,000 LEAF models per month since last January, more than quadrupling the nameplate's sales in comparison to the first half of 2012.

As for why that is, all signs seem to be pointing to the improved driving range and drastically reduced price tag of the 2013 Nissan LEAF. Needless to say, the demand for our EV of the hour is growing by the day, so much so that it's overwhelming the supply. It's an unexpected hiccup, but being that we know the cause, the solution's already in place.

"Not every dealer has pursued selling the LEAF yet," says Erik Gottfried, director of electric sales at Nissan. "But what we've seen lately is that one dealer in a city will start marketing the car and have great success with it. Then the other dealers in the market will realize there's a real opportunity and start marking it, too."1

So if you'd like to take a spin in one of our eco-friendly best-sellers while they're still on the lot, we'd be happy to set you up at our dealership here in Eugene, OR. After all, the people have spoken.
