As the experts in our car parts department will gladly tell you, our favorite automaker is working hard to usher in the future of automotive safety to our lineup. We here at Lithia Nissan of Eugene couldn't be more enthused about it, and now that they're winning awards for space age technologies that haven't even arrived at our dealership, the future can't get here fast enough.

Just recently, the 2013 CEATEC Innovation Awards were held in Japan to celebrate the technologies and innovations that are leading the way across every industry out there. The awards are given out by a panel of industry experts that evaluates each company and product in contention based on how they/it meets the needs of consumers and how it offers unique solutions to existing problems.

Apparently, the physical act of driving a car has been a serious problem as of late, so just about every automaker out there has been trying to come up with an autonomous driving system that allows our vehicles to safely do the driving for us. While Nissan is no exception to the effort, their technologies were nonetheless deemed a cut above the rest.

In the words of the CEATEC voting panel, "Nissan's Autonomous Drive technology will greatly benefit future society by reducing traffic accidents and fatalities, preventing traffic congestion and contributing to a reduction in environmental issues through improved fuel economy."1 In fact, they were such big fans of Nissan's contributions that they awarded them with top honors in the Smart Mobility and Special Award categories.

Unfortunately, we've still got a ways until Autonomous Drive makes its way to our lineup, but if you'd like to learn more about all it will have to offer, we'd be happy to fill you in at our dealership here in Eugene, OR. Like we said, folks, it's the future today.
