For the Lithia Nissan of Eugene team, the safety of our drivers is a major concern. So when Nissan announced that the 2016 Nissan Maxima would include Nissan's "Driver Attention Alert" (DAA) system, we found ourselves feeling pretty excited. With 37 percent of drivers reporting1 having dozed off at the wheel while driving, we look forward to getting our customers acquainted with the DAA system.
Nissan's "Driver Attention Alert" system is a safety feature that uses a glowing amber coffee cup to alert drowsy drivers to take a break. As a highly intuitive system, DAA is fully adaptable no matter who is driving. By using steering-angle sensors, the DAA is able to create and use a baseline to judge whether a driver is at risk of crashing due to drowsy or fatigued driving, or not. To avoid misjudging driving patterns, the system does use logic to detect if movements are due to things like road curvatures, lane changes or simply poor driving conditions. Each time the driver turns off the car, the DAA system resets itself for the next trip. For those who would prefer not to drive with DAA, you can disable the system.
If you'd like to get behind the wheel of the 2016 Nissan Maxima, visit the Lithia Nissan of Eugene showroom at 2060 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Eugene, OR 97401. Both our sales and finance team look forward to getting you inside of a car designed with your safety in mind.
