Function That's Always Fashion-Forward-The Nissan Altima

When you browse around for a new midsize sedan, you're sure to find many that offer great value, eye-catching style, and predictive safety features. There are a lot of options, after all. But one of the reasons the Nissan Altima deserves your attention is because it does more than check the boxes you want it to check and look good doing it. Copious interior space, impressive tech, eye-catching design, and long-term reliability that eclipses the competition in ways that might surprise you are all marks in the Altima's favor.

It's hard to miss any of our new Nissan models these days, and the Altima is particularly attractive. Familiar cues like the V-Motion grille, boomerang headlights, and expressive body lines give the Altima an athletic, sleek look, while the integrated rear spoiler imbues a sense of sportiness. But where the Altima is quite the looker, it certainly doesn't go overboard, as some competitors seem wont to do.

One expects a spacious, well-made interior in a mid-size sedan, but the Altima delivers more than the essentials. NASA-inspired Zero Gravity front seats are designed to conform to a variety of body types, and provide lasting comfort no matter how long the road extends. A Nissan Connect display can be found on most models, with higher-trim offerings getting leather upholstery. Trunk space is also quite impressive at 15.4 cu-ft, and the seats offer a 60/40 split folding option for longer items.

The push to deliver higher gas mileage and power numbers in the same engine has led some automakers to use technologies like turbochargers. The downside is, these can sometimes decrease reliability. That's why both engines on the Altima are naturally-aspirated for better long-term performance. The base mill is a 179 horsepower inline-four with up to 39 mpg on the highway, while a 270 horsepower V6-a rarity these days-gets 32 mpg highway.

The Altima also prioritizes a variety of impressive safety and convenience features that make quite a difference. Base models come with push button start, keyless entry, and Bluetooth, but more features await higher up the range. Nissan Connect's suite of mobile applications, leather upholstery, LED headlights, heated seats, and a Bose audio system are among the highlights, as are safety systems like Predictive Forward Collision Warning, and others. Feel free to check our specials to find out if there are any deals on the next trim up!
